News and Update
In this meeting, all Cotton growing State association Presidents, Secretaries, Scientists and farmers attended.
The agenda of the meeting was to suggest measures to increase cotton sowing area and cotton yield in India.
The CAI President, in his address, requested all State association Presidents to take necessary steps in their respected states to increase the
cotton sowing and if needed, give press notes in local newspapers encouraging farmers to grow more cotton as farmers will be safe by sowing cotton in coming year.
Because –
1) Raw cotton rate is at record high at Rs.7500 per quintal
2) Cotton seed rate is at a record high at Rs 4500/5000 per quintal
3) CCI is buying 1 to 1.25 crore bales at MSP. So, farmers are secure that
they will get minimum price of around 6000 per quintal.
4) Cotton is a cash crop. Farmers can sell it any time whenever they want in
cash payment.
All the states associations have promised to do the needful.
